Legendary game show host Wink Martindale dies

Wink Martindale, the legendary game show host known for classics like “Tic-Tac-Dough” and “Gambit,” has passed away at the age of 91 on April 15, 2025, from lymphoma. Martindale, born on December 4, 1933, in Jackson, Tennessee, began his career as a disc jockey before becoming a TV host. His big break came with “Gambit” in 1972, which became a hit.

Before his TV career, Martindale was also involved in rock ‘n’ roll history, famously helping Elvis Presley get his first on-air interview. Martindale was known for his warmth, charm, and connection with his audience, becoming a beloved figure on television for over 70 years.

In his later years, Martindale continued to contribute to entertainment, including hosting “The History of Rock ‘n’ Roll” radio show. He leaves behind a legacy as a cherished host and a kind-hearted man who made a lasting impact on both the television and music industries. He is survived by his wife Sandra, three daughters, grandchildren, and his cherished dog, Dude. RIP, Wink.
