CONWAY, Ark. — The Conway Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place Sunday night.
The shooting occurred near 5th Avenue Park in Conway.
Officials said there are 11 victims. Two of the victims died and nine are at area hospitals in stable condition.
Video taken right before the shooting shows people waving handguns in the middle of a crowd. Other video taken at the scene would show others attending to a person who was shot.
Police are asking the public to avoid the area while the investigation is ongoing. Other law enforcement agencies are assisting the investigation as well.
The University of Central Arkansas released a statement regarding its logo being used in promotion of the event, saying it did not authorize the usage and that “any information indicating UCA’s involvement is false.”
“We believe the promotion was meant to persuade UCA and other college students to attend and falsely align universities with various parties and activities,” said UCA President Houston Davis. “Again, UCA did not authorize the use of the logo and was not involved in the planning or hosting of these events.”
