After Jimmy Kimmel cried live on air about former president and current President-Elect Donald Trump’s massive electoral victory on the Tuesday, November 5, presidential election, he was hilariously roasted by ESPN personality Stephen Smith, known generally for his woke take on nearly everything.
Such is what Smith said when he appeared on “The Will Cain Show” on Thursday, November 7. Commenting on Kimmel’s crying, Smith said, “That would not have been me. It would not been a postmortem, it certainly would not have been me crying. I’m not crying over the fact that Donald Trump is the president.”
Continuing, he noted that the election was decisive and that the reason was that the country moved far too much to the left, saying, “The American people have spoken. You can say what you want, but this country has said we went too far left.” Building on that, he noted that the leftist nonsense must stop, saying, “Enough’s enough. We got to stop this nonsense. It’s about our pocketbooks, and it’s about safety. Period. And if you don’t like it, get over it. The bottom line is the economy was doing well before COVID.”
Then, further commenting on the matter, Smith said that this victory of Trump’s was quite conclusive, saying, “But in the end, it is always good when the American people stand up they’re as unified as they came across this past election… That’s the American people speaking ‘We don’t like what we have, we want this.’ And when you have that you have to listen. He didn’t win, he annihilated her. I mean this was a romp.”
Then, returning to the matter of Kimmel’s crying, Smith said that he shouldn’t have given into the gloom and doom, saying, “So for me, I would have tried, because obviously it’s late night, I would have tried to be a bit funny and humorous with it and let everybody know it’s not gloom and doom.”
Adding to that with a further series of comments about how people like Kimmel just need to deal with the situation of Trump’s victory, he said “We’ve dealt with a lot in our society and we are going to deal with a lot more in years to come long after Donald Trump is gone, no matter what you think.”
Kimmel, beginning his tirade, began by ranting about how “terrible” the night supposedly was for women, children, and immigrants, saying, “Let’s be honest: it was a terrible night last night. It was a terrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hardworking immigrants who make this country go. Um…”
Continuing, he said, “For healthcare, for our climate, for science, for journalism, for justice, for free speech. It was a terrible night for poor people, for the middle class, for seniors who rely on Social Security. For our allies in Ukraine, for NATO, for the troops, and democracy and decency, and it was a terrible night for everyone who voted against him — and guess what? It was a bad night for everyone who voted for him, you just don’t realize it yet.”
