On the night of Tuesday, November 5, as the election results started rolling in and pointing in former President Donald Trump’s favor in a massive way, making him America’s president-elect, Jon Stewart, who hosts “The Daily Show,” had a massive meltdown over how wrong the pollsters were yet again.
Stewart began his rant by noting that the election hadn’t then been completely called in Turmp’s favor, though he intimated in his tone that a Trump victory was close on the horizon. He said, “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to The Daily Show. We don’t, it hasn’t been completely called yet.”
He added, on the same note, that it is not yet quite clear what the results will be, but the show’s time was running out so he had to say something…and at the time, things were already looking good for Trump. He said, resigned, “We don’t exactly know what all the results are going to be. Our time is running out.”
That’s when he went nuclear on the pollsters who continually get everything wrong. He said, “I do want to very quickly send a quick message to all the pollsters, the election pollsters blow me. I don’t ever want to hear from you again. Ever. I don’t ever want to hear. ‘We corrected you.’ The only correction.:You don’t know shit about shit and I don’t care for you.”
He added, mocking the pollsters who always claim that they’ll manage to do better in the next election, “‘We’ll figure it out next time, oh, we were in the margin of…’ Blow me! Okay. Look, here’s the thing, here’s what we know, is that we don’t really know anything!”
He continued, saying, “And that we’re going to come out of this election, and we’re going to make all kinds of pronouncements about what this country is and what this world is, and the truth is, we’re not really going to know shit, and we’re going to make it seem like this is the finality of our civilization and this and thing, we’re all going to have to wake up tomorrow morning and work like hell to move the world to the place that we prefer it to be.”
A bit later, Stewart tried to end ono a positive note, saying, “I promise you, this is not the end, and we have to regroup, and we have to continue to fight and continue to work day in and day out, to create the better society for our children, for this world, for this country that we know is possible. We, it’s possible.”
Commenting on a clip of Stewart’s meltdown that went viral, one person said that Stewart hadn’t seemed to get the memo about just how well Trump was doing, saying, “Unfortunately, I don’t think he really realized what just happened. Americans took their country back from the Washington Elites, Corporate Media, and all of the race baiting and DEI of the Left.”
Another commenter alleged that the pollsters were right this time around, saying, “The bit on pollsters… erm… they were spot on. Like, they were *EXACTLY* correct. Thry could not have done a better job. I mean forgivable to be snappy when frustrated at the world, so fair enough, but objectively… yeah… sorry. 🤷”
